Internship

The Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Amman offers full-time internships for graduate and postgraduate students interested in the socioeconomic and political development of Jordan, Iraq, and Yemen, as well as climate, energy, and other cross-cutting issues.

1. Internship content and tasks

At FES Amman, you will gain insight into the day-to-day works of an international political foundation. Tasks vary based on your background and interests as well as FES Amman’s ongoing projects and office activities, yet usually range from administrative, operational, and research tasks to helping facilitate FES projects and events. If applicable, the internship also includes independent publication opportunities.

2. Requirements

For an internship with FES, you should have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in political science, languages, law, journalism, or other relevant fields. Excellent language skills in English and good skills in Arabic are necessary, as well as a good knowledge of social democracy, the MENA region, and Germany’s political system and history. German language skills are welcome. Experience in writing and using the main MS Office programs, such as good organizational and communication skills, is highly desirable. In exceptional cases and with prior consultation, participation in events and activities in the evenings and on weekends might be requested, such as business trips within Jordan.

3. General internship conditions

The duration of an FES internship is usually two to three months and is generally remunerated. Any expenses relating to visa and flights, insurance, accommodation, and meals cannot be covered by FES. The FES Office is a well-equipped workplace in Umm Uthaina, a lovely district of Amman. Working hours are Sunday to Thursday, 9.00 - 17.00.
