Internship

The Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Amman offers full-time internships for graduate and postgraduate students interested in the socioeconomic and political development of Jordan and Iraq, as well as climate, energy, and other cross-cutting issues.


Internship tasks

At FES Amman, as an intern you will gain insight into the day-to-day works of an international political organization. Tasks vary based on your background and interests as well as FES Amman’s ongoing projects and office activities, yet they usually range from administrative, operational, and research tasks to helping facilitate FES projects and events. If applicable, the internship also includes independent publication opportunities.

In some cases, the intern can take part in events and activities during working ours, also in the evenings and on weekends, this might include business trips within Jordan.

Requirements

Eligible applicants for an internship at FES should meet the following criteria:

    • Completion of a Bachelor's degree.
    • Must have selected a thesis topic at the Master's degree or graduated from their masters.
    • Their major must be in political science, languages, law, journalism, or other relevant fields.
    • Excellent language skills in English and good language skills in Arabic.
    • Good knowledge of social democracy, the MENA region situation, and Germany’s political system and history.
    • Profecieny in German language skills is preferable.
    • Experience in writing and using the main MS Office programs.
    • Strong organizational and communication skills.

    General internship conditions

    The typical duration of the internship ranges from two to three months and it comes with compensation. (the candidates must choose which month(s) they can start).
    Any expenses relating to visa and flights, insurance, accommodation, and meals cannot be covered by FES. 
    Working hours are Sunday to Thursday, 9.00 - 17.00.
